Five Nights At Freddy's is back with a new DLC for Security Breach. Security Breach: Ruin introduces Cassie, a young girl breaking into the desolate Pizzaplex to look for her friend Gregory (the main character from Security Breach).

Cassie's adventures through the building lead her to one of three endings. In keeping with FNAF tradition, all three endings are ambiguous and introduce the undesirable possible fates of the characters. But not all endings are created equal. Which is the best possible outcome? The most satisfying? Which one do you want to be true? The possibilities aren't endless, but they are varied.

While knowledge of the Five Nights at Freddy's book series isn't required for playing Security Breach or its DLC, it does provide some extra context.

The Lead-Up To The End

FNAF Ruin Vanny coming out of a machine

Cassie makes her way through the Pizzaplex, undoing security systems at Gregory's instruction. She navigates through the ruins, finally finding the place where Gregory claims to be, and discovers the horrible truth: Gregory isn't even at the Pizzaplex — Cassie was lured there by the Mimic, who used Gregory's voice to gain her trust and escape the confines of its prison. At this point, the purportedly real Gregory comes onto the walkie talkie to tell Cassie she's in danger. Cassie screams and runs. The Mimic gives chase.

It's at this point that you have multiple endings at your fingertips depending on what choices you make. We've ranked them from worst to best, starting with the least favorable.

3 The Elevator Ending

FNAF Ruin Cassie defends herself against the Mimic

Throughout the chase, Gregory directs Cassie through a series of tunnels until she finds an elevator. She hits the button for the door, closes it before the Mimic can get to her, and all is well... until Gregory comes back on an intercom, tells Cassie a summary of what's happened, and then says, "But we can't risk being followed. I'm sorry." Then the elevator falls, and the screen fades to black.

This is the "default" ending — the one you get if you do everything the Mimic-as-Gregory tells you, and then follow the instructions to escape at the end. It's very in line with FNAF's penchant for ambiguous endings. Does Cassie live? Was that really Gregory talking to her at the end, or the Mimic trying to lead her into another trap? Where even is Gregory? Did he really trap his friend — who has spent this entire game risking her safety for his — in an elevator and leave her to die? Who knows.

2 The Secret Ending

FNAF Ruin Cardboard cut out of Freddy

This ending leaves you with a lot of questions. Cassie flees the Mimic, following Gregory's instructions until the second order to go right. At the last second, turn left, where you'll find a cardboard cutout of Freddy. Don the Vanny mask, and you'll see a completely new scene — Gregory and Helpy sitting on a hillside, with Vanessa leaning against a nearby tree. Gregory speaks, saying that they found a safe place and not to worry (echoing his words from the Elevator Ending). Cassie, still at the mercy of the Mimic, makes distressed noises in the background.

A second variation of this ending is available where the Mimic chases you in the same disguise as the Scooped Ending.

This ending also leaves Cassie's fate up in the air — although you can probably assume that the Mimic gets her. But what about the message from Gregory? It's extremely reminiscent of the Security Breach Princess Quest ending. Is it real, or another trick by Mimic? And once again, what about Gregory?

1 The Scooped Ending

FNAF Ruin Disguised Mimic with a scooper over its shoulder

While there's no such thing as a "happy" ending in the FNAF series, this might be the one that comes closest. This is the only ending that involves steps outside of the chase. There are hidden cameras in chapters one, three, five, and seven.

From there, you'll follow the same beats as the Elevator ending, but instead of going to the elevator, you hook a left into a nearby control room. Hit a button, and the Mimic will be snatched from the entrance of the room and subsequently scooped, like many animatronics and Michael before it. The scene fades with Cassie still in the control room, catching her breath and staring out into the darkness.

If you want to classify "good" and "bad" endings, this one is the best of the three, and also leaves things more open for returns to the Pizzaplex in later DLCs or games. Cassie is still alive. The Mimic is dead. Gregory's fate is still unknown, but at least now Cassie is free to find him — or, more likely, to find a way out of this nightmare. It's also the best contender for canon ending, considering it also lines up with FNAF's usual, ambiguous endings, but with less child death.
