The Blasphemous Claw is extremely helpful in this challenging boss battle since it allows you to deflect the power of the Black Blade. While this item won't make the battle easy, it certainly improves manageability since having it at your disposal gives you an edge. However, it's important to note that skill and strategy remain essential in defeating Maliketh.

To obtain the Blasphemous Claw, you must defeat Recusant Bernahl, who drops it. You can find him at Crumbling Farum Azula, but only after completing Volcano Manor and defeating Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.

After doing that, you just need to follow these steps in order to trigger Recusant Bernahl's invasion:

  1. Start at the Great Bridge Site of Grace.
  2. Climb up the broken stairs and head north.
  3. After that, jump down from the right side of the balcony to the bridge structure.
  4. There, you will get a prompt that Recusant Bernahl will invade you.
  5. After you defeat him, he will drop the Blasphemous Claw alongside his armor.

How To Use The Blasphemous Claw

Blasphemous Claw tool in action in Elden Ring

Using the Blasphemous Claw might not be immediately obvious as all other items in Elden Ring.

In order to effectively use this tool, there are a few key things to keep in mind. Firstly, equip it before attempting Maliketh the Black Blade boss fight and remember that it's only useful during the second phase.

During the second phase of the fight, watch out for a golden glow on Maliketh's sword - this is your signal to use the Blasphemous Claw. When he attempts that attack, activate the Claw just before he hits you.

If the timing is right, the Claw will parry the attack, damage Maliketh, and stun him briefly. Make sure to take advantage of this stun to land as many attacks as possible before he recovers.
