Magic: The Gathering’s Commander Masters set includes the return of some of MTG’s most terrifying entities: the Eldrazi. These faceless, otherworldly monstrosities are some of the most powerful beings in the multiverse, and as such, their cards are both extremely potent and usually quite expensive in terms of both mana and money.

Rise of the Eldrazi will hopefully drive down the prices of some of these expensive cards by reprinting them in a new preconstructed Commander deck. If you’re looking for value, look no further than these top ten expensive reprints in Rise of the Eldrazi.

All card prices are taken from TCGPlayer.com. In instances where cards have been reprinted in multiple sets, we’ve taken the cheapest card.

10 Thran Dynamo

MTG Thran Dynamo by Ron Spears

Price

$2.49

Everyone needs mana, and nothing provides mana as reliably and in as much abundance as Thran Dynamo. Despite being reprinted in nearly every preconstructed Commander deck, Thran Dynamo's popularity has meant that it remains worthy of a few dollars despite being a merely uncommon card.

You can get a cheap one for around $2.50, but most reprints are in the $3 range.

9 Hangarback Walker

MTG Hangarback Walker by Daarken

Price

$2.71

Hangarback Walker is just a fun way to spend a lot of mana. It's also hard to get rid of as all its +1/+1 tokens turn into 1/1 Thopters upon its death. Leave it alive, though, and Hangarback Walker will just get bigger every turn it doesn't attack.

There have been a few reprints of Hangarback Walker, so it's not the most expensive card in Eldrazi Unbound, but its popularity and ease of use means it still commands a moderate price.

8 War Room

MTG War Room by Milivoj Ceran

Price

$2.85

In colorless decks, War Room essentially reads "pay three generic mana, tap, draw a card." That's good--very good. Good enough that it's still worth a few bucks even after repeated reprints.

It's perfect for the Eldrazi Deck, so I wouldn't expect many players to remove it for its monetary value. Still, it has some value, so you could trade it away if you're desperate for scratch.

7 Kaldra Compleat

Kaldra-Compleat-1

Price

$2.99

The only thing better than shroud and hexproof is indestructible. Kaldra Compleat provides an expensive way to provide both indestructibility and a host of other keywords, including first strike, trample, and haste. It also pumps a creature's power and toughness by five, turning anything into a virtual Eldrazi. If you don't have a creature to spare, don't worry: Kaldra Compleat is a living weapon, so it makes a 0/0 token to attach to when it comes into play.

Fun and effective in multiple strategies, Kaldra Compleat is popular enough to command a moderate price for budget-conscious MTG players.

6 Arcane Lighthouse

MTG Arcane Lighthouse by Igor Kieryluk

Price

$3.99

With Lightning Greaves being one of the most popular Commander cards out there, it's no surprise that Arcane Lighthouse, its direct counter, is in almost equally high demand. Besides providing colorless mana, Arcane Lighthouse strips enemy creatures of shroud and hexproof, allowing you to target them for whatever nefarious ends you deem necessary.

Plenty of Commander decks main these lands despite the lack of colored mana production, and so it's one of Eldrazi Unbound's more expensive reprints.

5 Lightning Greaves

lightning greaves

Price

$4.80

A staple of Commander decks since the format began, Lightning Greaves are still expensive even after dozens of reprints. And it's not hard to see why: not only does it allow you to swing with It That Betrays as soon as it comes into play, it also protects it from eating a well-timed Murder. Plus, it costs little to play and nothing to equip.

Perfect for literally every Commander deck, Lightning Greaves is expensive strictly due to overwhelming demand. The cheapest version we've found on TCGPlayer was just under $5, but the typical reprint sells well into the $6 or $7 range.

4 Forsaken Monument

MTG - Forsaken Monument

Price

$5.09

There's little that Forsaken Monument doesn't do. It makes all your colorless creatures +2/+2 larger, gives you more colorless mana every time you tap for it, and also refills your life counter every time you cast a colorless spell. Short of drawing cards, what more could you ask for?

Since Forsaken Monuments works equally well with artifacts as it does Eldrazi, it's a popular card for several Commander archetypes. It's also perfect for Eldrazi Unbound, but you'll get some cash for it if you decide to trade it away.

3 All Is Dust

All is Dust

Price

$6.12

An excellent board-clearing sorcery, All Is Dust destroys all colored permanents. That means most decks see their entire board presence destroyed, while artifact and Eldrazi decks are left unscathed. It's even useful in decks that don't necessarily stick with the colorless theme. After all, plenty of Magic decks contain mutually destructive board clearers.

All Is Dust has been reprinted several times, but its popularity and potency have helped it to command a premium price for years. As such, it's one of the money cards reprinted in Eldrazi Unbound.

2 Kozilek, the Great Distortion

A ginormous Eldrazi titan stands tall, with it's hand pointing at the viewer. A spot of white light from the centre of the palm seems to visible distort the blue sky around it

Price

$6.92

Kozilek, our first and only named Eldrazi to make the list, is an even bigger monster at 12/12 for 10 converted mana. Besides being an enormous body that's slightly difficult to block thanks to the Menace keyword, Kozilek refills your hand upon being cast and also allows you to counter spells with the same converted mana cost as whatever you can discard.

Although slightly less threatening than It That Betrays, Kozilek is still pretty scary and can at least lock games down if not win them outright. Plus, name-brand recognition always carries a higher price, either in-game or out.

1 It That Betrays

It That Betrays

Price

$8.00

Topping the list is not one of the named Eldrazi, but one of the Eldrazi’s more powerful minions. It That Betrays is a 12-mana creature with a massive body (11 power and 11 toughness), Annihilator 2 (defending player has to sacrifice two permanents every time It That Betrays attacks), and anything that the defending player sacrifices suddenly becomes your property.

So long as you can keep it alive and get it to the attack phase, It That Betrays can win games all on its own. That’s probably why it’s the most expensive reprint in the entirety of Eldrazi Unbound.
